Good morning gentlemen,
For Mr. MJR, I have decided to move the Atlas ICBM discussions here since it is no longer a request. The old post will stay as a request for the Site 11 Willow surface base until I find someone willing to do it. I hope this won't be confusing for you.

Until then, this is Star Voyager, signing off.

Good morning gentlemen,
For Mr. MJR, Mr. Astrosammy has requested to make Site 11 and create the guidance profile. This thread will still be here for the development of the ICBM. I look forward to disussing the development with you.

Until then, this is Star Voyager, signing off.

I am starting on the mesh at the moment. BTW, just came back from the gym.

I am having trouble making the fins though. When I make it and then lathe it on the X or Y axis it looks like a big disk.

Good morning gentlemen,
For Mr. MJR, forgive me, but I was out for the last 3 hours. The mesh looks very good. I'm sorry to hear about the trouble. I hope there is something I could do to help.

I am going to look around and see if anyone can help. Anyways, I still need to add the small details like on the picture and make the warhead. All I need is a picture of the warhead and I can get that done pretty quickly. Then I need to try and make the ini file as accurate as the real thing. When I think that it is ready I will release it to you only. When astrosammy is done with his part I will upload it to Orbit Hangar and then that will be the official release.

Good morning gentlemen,
For Mr. MJR, Mr. Astrosammy told me earlier that the base is expected to be completed in mid-July. It sounds like your almost done, which is good to hear, but if you are, there may be a gap between the rocket and the base. I also realize that add-on developing is a hobby and can't be done everyday. But, that's life! Here is the W-38 warhead. I hope this helps:

The white part is the warhead, but I'm sure you knew that.

Good morning gentlemen,
For Mr. MJR, I noticed that the Atlas booster lacked sustainer engines. Here is what they look like:

I have not seen this in any other Atlas add-ons that have this, and I hope this is not too much trouble for you to put in. By the way, there is one on either side.

Star Voyager, regarding the red outline box on the picture above. Unless I'm mistaken, that is one of the vernier rockets, not a sustainer.
In MJR's working diagram, the vernier is item numbers 4 & 5. and the sustainer engine item is 8.

Perhaps you meant booster engines? If that is the case, one of the boosters is facing the camera, directly below the USAF marking. In MJR's diagram they are items 7 & 9.

Good morning gentlemen,
For Mr. Notebook, thank you for the info. I'm sure that's what I meant. I always thought that the main engines were on the side, the secondary engine in the middle, and the sustainer engines above and shifted 90 degrees. But that's just me.

I'll put more pictures up hopefully tomorrow.

Good morning gentlemen,
For Mr. MJR, I would appreciate it if you did put pictures up. I hope you saw that Mr. Astrosammy's base will take some time. Thank you for the update.

I am aware of the release date of astrosammy's base. However, the earliest that I can promise you for the release of the ICBM is the end of this month. I would like to make it as accurate and make it the best that it can be. The The latest is somewhere around the beggining of July. I might leave to Florida in July so I am not sure about the times. Please be aware that it is the Summer and I can be very busy and doing other things than Orbiter.

Good morning gentlemen,
For Mr. MJR, I do understand that you have previous engagements, as do I, but I appreciate your effort on accuracy. Thank you for the heads up.

The two small rocket engines on the side of the body are vernier rockets, as Notebook has said. The center engine in the tail is the sustainer, which burns from launch until SECO (sustainer engine cutoff), and the two big outboard engines are the boosters, which burn from launch until BECO, about halfway through the launch sequence, at which time they are jettisoned. The 2 verniers burn from launch until just after SECO, when their small thrust is used to trim the final trajectory of the missile or launcher.

Boosters and sustainer both burned fuel and ox from the same pressurized tank, which is why Atlas was called "stage and a half to orbit", since the fuselage stayed in one piece all the way to insertion and only a couple of engines (and the engine fairing skirt) were jettisoned. The fuselage itself was a thin metal tank skin with no skeleton stringers or frames to reduce weight, and was kept rigid by pressurization so it wouldn't crush like a beer can under its own weight. Atlas was an amazing piece of technology.

Good morning gentlemen,
For Mr. Liber, Mr. Urwumpe, and Mr. Andy44, thank you fot the info and pictures. They are greatly appreciated. For Mr. MJR, your birthday message to me is also greatly appreciated :). Thank you all.

Sorry for not updating you guys these past few days. I went to Six Flags in Dallas with my friends and stayed at this resort called Gaylord Texan. I didn't bring a computer so I could not work on it.

Good morning gentlemen,
For Mr. MJR, it sounds like you had a good time. I remember when I went to Six Flags in San Antonio. I had a blast. Thank you for the heads up.

BTW, I am having problems develpoing the mesh. I will try my best on it, but I can get the rest of it done. The only part I cannot make is the part on the sides where the engines gow. I am working on fixing that though.
