90377 Sedna is a large planetoid in the outer reaches of the Solar System that was, as of 2012, about three times as far from the Sun as Neptune. Spectroscopy ha s revealed that Sedna's surface composition is similar to that of some other trans-Neptunian objects, being largely a mixture of water, methane and nitrogen ices wi th tholins. Its surface is one of the reddest among Solar System objects. It is most likely a dwarf planet.

Sedna's orbit is between 80 and 170 AU from the Sun. It's perihelion will be reached around 2075–2076.

Update 1: New surface map texture.
Update 2: Epoch parameter corrected.
Update 3: Surface map's colour corrected.

Hi,
surface texture works fine, but it's VERY red on my installation(Orbiter2010-P1, Windows 8.1) but maybe it should be like that?

I'm not sure if the .cfg Epoch parameter is correct, I think you may need to convert from Julian to "year.decimal" e.g. 2010.55578370979.
Cheers

Sorry. The epoch parameter is not correct. The surface is red because sedna's surface is unknown so I painted it red. The original surface map has got the same color as the moon's map. I can change it if you want.
Sorry for my english. I'm spanish.

Well, I don't know...I'd always imagined Sedna a bit darker and browner - but I'm not up to date on the latest science - there's probably some information on the web about it somewhere. Anyway, you should do it the way you think it should be.

BTW your English is fine.

I've painted it red because I like the red colour. The colour of the planet in the mod's screenshot is the original, but I changed it because it is very similar to the moon and that can be repetitive.
I will change it tonight.

I'd have called my daughter Sedna if I'd had one. I also like Redheads. Red Sedna is fine by me.

There's an article on WIkipedia which says: "Its surface is one of the reddest among Solar System objects" so I'll keep Sedna's surface red. But of course I'll correct the epoch parameter.

I've imagined Sedna as being red, but not THIS red! I think it should be more closer to [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=610"]piper's Sedna mod[/ame].

Ok. I'll change it to a "red-brown" colour. My idea was to make Sedna's surface like this:

The Sedna's orbit goes far beyond 170 AU according to recent estimates. It goes around 936 AU

The article also says that Sedna is nearly as red as Mars.
