The correct value for SidRotOffset is -0.7719243, from the IAU (International Astronomical Union) and USGS. This value will be included in the next Orbiter version.

If you have an AGP 2x slot, you might consider an NVidia GeForce 7600 card. I think you can get these for under $100 US now. My main machine is running one of these, and the performance is reasonable for recent games (and Orbiter). Graphics cards are like another computer inside your computer...
I'd vote for "Impact main rings" The spacecraft may be destroyed, but the possibility of imaging the rings "up-close" would be a big plus. And, if the spacecraft is not destroyed, you get another pass, and maybe another...

There are Jupiter rings included in the "Outer Planets" add-on, but I'm not sure who made them. If you can get that add-on and see how those were done, it might help you out.

Maybe I can give a little help. I created a new Saturn ring texture based on Cassini pix a few years ago (which you should still be able to find). What I did was to take the default Saturn_ring.tex files from Orbiter, and dis-assembled them into individual dds files, then created new dds files...
The units for inertia are mass * length^2. So your original values should have units of kg * m^2, and not kg / m^2. If you calculate the conversion from kg * m^2 to lb * ft^2, you should get the correct result.

Meshes are text-viewable files, so if you open up the mesh file with a text viewer (like Notepad), and go down to the end, the names of the textures used are listed there.

A good test of your binoculars (and your eyesight) is to observe Jupiter. Coincidentally, it has an apparent angular size similar to the ISS of about 40 arcseconds. If you can detect that Jupiter is a spherical body rather than a point of light, then you should also be able to see some details...
It is possible to see a little detail when looking at the ISS through good binoculars. The actual size is something like 40 arcseconds at closest approach (YL3GDY's calculation is a little bit off). I myself haven't had great results, but then I need to get better binoculars.
