Unfortunatly giving this man a fair trial means that he can use the courts as his soap box for his political speeches. I say court appoint a lawyer and tell him during the procedings to sit down and shut up

His entire apprehension was just a desperate move by the current Serbian government to get closer to the EU.

The court is far from self-appointed - it is based on international contracts, which are not signed by a few rogue nations...like the USA, who still fear their soldiers could get dragged in front of the court for war crimes (though this is not as easy to achieve). But also India and China. But 106 nations have signed the Rome Statute - including the whole former Yugoslavia. 40 of those have not yet ratified the contract... still a large number of countries and people supporting the court.

And no solid evidence is a matter of what you expect from a process about political crimes. Somebody can always claim to have been only following orders. So far, the ICC work can be best summarized as slow and precise, with the result that ICC investigators and judges are also already desirable experts outside the ICC (as it is a critical mass of international law experts from all member nations).

Milosevics death was far from mysterious, he was already ill before he entered the court, of course, mysterious sounds better as "This stupid bastard died because he was to proud to be a bastard, to accept help from his enemies".

Well when you think of the fact that he is getting a trial more than what was given to his victims, I call it pretty fair. I believe in having the death penalty for War criminals of his nature. I just pray that this trial is not delayed to the point that he dies in prision. He should live long enough to hear the verdict at least.

Well, I don't think death penalty would be a solution, but I think, it is not about who he is, but who we are... if we fight crime with crime, we are also just criminals. (That's why using armed drones in the war against terrorism is troubling me. After all, "we" are just doing high tech terrorism.)

Yuppers the drones are kinda worrysome. Sending in a 300k Drone to take out a few taliban in a hut is not what i call a fair advantage.

I think a man of his type has no morals. They should put a strict timeline for the procedings a 3 month trial should suffice for his crimes

All convinced criminals deny the authority of a court over their life. Finally, his own opinion does not count. There is only one factor which gives a court responsibility over a criminal, and that is the law.

In that case, international law. Serbia has ratified the rome statute, so the Serbian people trusted the ICC to be a fair court for them, when one of them is a political criminal as well, as when Serbs had been victims of political crimes - I am sure, the vast amount of war criminals in former Yugoslavia in all fractions was he true reason why all new nations had ratified it.
