What did you get/give this Christmas?

I got wife and kid a Kindle Fire each.

Wife wants to get me a leather coat to replace the one she commandeered when we were dating (then eventually destroyed). I've got to "go shopping" with her to try them on, I'm tall and often off-the-rack stuff doesn't fit very well. She did something else, but uh...

The kid got me something, she's 17 so there's a limit to what she could have gotten me.

Parents and in-laws get a $50 gift card to eat out. Different card depending on their eating preferences. My dad gets an additional book "Roughshod Through Dixie" by another space enthusiast Mark Lardas. Dad is a Civil War buff, and I try to get him new reading material every year.

I'm still at work ($$$), so I won't know anything else until later.

Let's see u got, battlefield 3, gears of war 3, a 2100 ms point card, 12 months xbox live card with 800 ms points and a Simpsons t-shirt :P, oh and minecraft.

I don't have any friends/family who celebrate Christmas on the Gregorian calendar (and few that do so on the Julian calendar), so I've still got 2 weeks to prepare for the occasion.

I got Elder Scrolls V, a bunch of eyepieces and filters, a computer interface for music, and A FLOOPING TELESCOPE!

It's a reflector, and the width of the long cylinderish part is 10cm. Don't know if that's the aperture or not :P
I plan to use it with an 8mm eyepiece, and a doubler. What would the magnification be with that config?

Just put your telescopes info into this site. It should give you an idea of how it'll look.

Now too bad the weather will be nothing but cloud for the next week or so!!
Gave out some toys for my young siblings, a pair of suspenders for my oldest younger brother, various knick-knacks for parents, a charm bracelet for my girlfriend... :)

An 8 DVD complete :hail: "Monty Python's Flying Circus" set.

Got:

-Skyrim
-Though Struggle, The Stars by John Lumpkin. Recommended by O-F book thread.
-Strings for all my guitars
-Socks, jeans, box of Cheese-Its, shooter of Tanqueray.

Gave:

-Impact screwdriver for my dad, for busting loose rusted screws
-Cable for my brother that was supposed to get his dual monitor setup working, but didn't.
-Some manga books for my sister.
-Steve Jobs biography for mom.
-New engraved tag for my neighbor's dog. I go over and take the dog for a walk just about every day, so I gave her a tag with updated contact information and my phone number as an alternate, because she works as a nurse and is frequently out of contact.

Modest but good Christmas. When you get older it's less about the swag and more about having a day where everything is closed and the world stops to give you some time to relax with the family.

Got a nice little model train. Trying out a new hobby.

Yes. It's really a great day. :)

Although on that note, McDonalds' is open today, supposedly because 'firefighters and police work on that day.' Yeah, because McD's is obviously so important. The Fire Dep't makes all their own food anyway.

I wonder, if I walk into a McD's today, is it all Jews, Muslims, and atheists?

I have a lot of respect for the people that have to work today. Last year we got my brother a flatscreen HDTV, and discovered that it didn't come with an HDMI cable and we couldn't get it working. A CVS on the other side of town was open and, to my amazement, they had HDMI cables in stock. The fact that they were open salvaged what otherwise would have been a disappointing day of waiting for the other stores to open so we could get our stuff working.
