Lol, funny how we get two different interpretations of the same thing.That's how it should be... you might have a common bug where the sky is messed up. Is your sky always black or something strange like that?
um. im not sure exactly what your problem is but if you outside of the earths atmosphere u will always see the stars. there is no air to get in the way
Only if you happen to have the Earth in your field of view.Earthshine is so bright that it will wash out the starfield. Not seeing stars when in orbital daylight is technically correct.

Or a camera designed to make it easy for humans to see, which is why you don't see stars in NASA photos on the dayside...And only if you use a human eye.
I believe it should be possible with a graphics engine that allows dimming of stars and other naturally dim objects whenever a bright emitting of brightly lit object comes into view (not necessary Earth).
I'm not proficient enough in graphics programming to give a hint on how. So this just an assumption.
