Support Jekka`s Vostok Addon

Brad
You are a genius and appreciate your hard work
Thanks

Its annoying!
Can get the correct times using the in orbit scenario only but not the Launch Scenario - that still drags in mid atlantic between australia and South america!!!!
Also have lost the autolaunch facility on this by using P with the launch scenario ?????

What orbital values do you get when using the Launch scenario?

Great NEWS! I was able to contact Jekka and he has consented to give permission for a release of the modified meshes as an update. I will release this on Orbiter Hangar in the next few days.

Got another problem now
I have lost the auto launch facility
When I press P for launch on the launch scenario - nothing happens
Any Ideas?

Try the update. It has now been uploaded to Orbithangar.com.

Brad, I have installed the update and noticed that the fairing's position is messed up.

Just replace Fairing_1 and Fairing_2 from Meshes of the original jekka Vostok - that should fix it

When I first started this topic - never thought it would get to this fantastic stage - its almost becoming a simulation in its own right !
Brad - your time and effort is greatfully appreciated
Hopefully my last problem with this!!!!!

As I stated earlier I intend to fly this scenario in real time on sunday morning at 0607hrs as a tribute to Yuri Gagarin.

De-orbit - follow the tutorial to the letter - but after the CSM seperation the orb decreases orbit nicely then I get a PE come up on the alt gauge and the orb then starts to increase in alt for another orbit!!!!!

I am also trying to get Col Gagarin`s original Vostok-1 voice recording into the sim as well - just for that extra bit of realism
Kind regards

I can send you 5 sound files that I found from the Internet. I can e-mail it to you.

Errr...now I am really lost... was it a mesh issue or a file configuration issue.

A mesh issue Brad - because by replacing the old mesh it works fine

Ok, thanks. Glad that is the case so I don't have to reupload and update to an update. :)

Thats fine - you have done good work on this - thanks
Now if you can advise me on re-entry?
Thanks

Well, it's more a configuraton issue.
The hatch of the capsule must be facing to the hole of the fairing to allow a ejection if something wents wrong during launch.
But by replacing the fairing mesh the hole of the fairing is at a wrong position.
The meshes don't need to be replaced, but a part of the file "Orbiter\Config\M_Soyuz\Soyuz_Vostok.ini" must be changed.

This needs to be changed:
Code:
[FAIRING]
N=2
MESHNAME="Vostok-J/Fairing"
OFF=(0.635,0,19.2)
Diameter=5.40
Height=17
mass=750
angle=0
[COLOR="Red"]angle=0[/COLOR]

to this:
Code:
[FAIRING]
N=2
MESHNAME="Vostok-J/Fairing"
OFF=(0.635,0,19.2)
Diameter=5.40
Height=17
mass=750
[COLOR="Red"]angle=90[/COLOR]

Ah...so the deletion of my previous message was premature. I have since fixed this on the file at OrbitHangar. Thank you for pointing this out again. It should ALL be there now.

Ok, I think I can help you gagarin.
I just landed 45 km away from Smelovka, it was great to see the Volga. It could be even closer if another launch azimuth is used.

This is the way I did it:
  1. Open orbit HUD, Surface MFD and Map MFD
  2. Set Smelovka as target in map MFD.
  3. At a distance of 9050 km point the ship retrograde and adjust the attitude so that Surface MFD shows a pitch of -28°.
  4. Start burning for 20 seconds when you are 8900 km away from Smelovka.

I can send you a playback of the deorbit if you want.

I'd be interested in a playback... I am getting no where near that close.
