ORBITER-FORUM will be temporarily closed at 2026-07-23 18:00 UTC while we complete some OF maintenance tasks. The amount of downtime is expected to take up to one hour, but probably less.
Hey,
Interesting project, Bruce. WIN dev may be going slowly and I very rarely play orbiter any more, but I'm always lurking on the forum, and WIN dev isn't dead. If people would actually be interested, I'd be happy to do an interview or whatever, just send me a PM.
Nice one vsfx, great to see this flight challenge revived, and with a proper high score table too. I had planned to do this for the ORL stuff, but it never took off enough to make it worth while. Hopefully you will have more luck than I did. Also, as people here know, I have planned a lot of...
Nice one tl8, orbiter has been waiting for one of these forever. The AIA public liability and maintenance departments will be delighted!
Its a shame we can't "thank" orbithangar mod posts.
Just an extra bonus of having a repo for your project... If you're someone like me who is protraction dev over years. I find it very handy when I come back to the project after time away to know exactly what the latest build is, what the, latest issues were, what was next on the roadmap, what...
As a war film fan I'd second 'saving private Ryan'. But also 'a bridge too far' is a personal favourite.
And for a different spin, 'a beautiful mind' is underrated IMO.
Aye, remember the days when "making backups" was considered wise practice...
On topic, no thanks. Inventions which serve a specific purpose stay in use or return to use. But I honestly can't think of a tape's USP...
Haha, only when taken out of context. But on that note, Howard also recalls a film reviewer who panned the ending, saying they would never survive... He didn't realise it was a true story...
So perhaps Ron should have said 'when the mythical grammar is better than the real grammar, print the...
Perhaps I am one of the few who's name needs no explanation!
And yes, I know its technically wrong, but like Ron Howard said in an interview on apollo13 film (horrible paraphrase): when the myth is better than the truth, print the myth. ;)
Nice one chaps, been looking forward to checking this one out. Great to see another vessel base hit the shelves, especially with a crane mechanic.
Had answers already, but just to add, dds1 doesn't do transparency. Off the to of my head I can't remember if everything above 1 does, or if only dds5 does.
As to night time textures, yes you can. Look at the current WIN, it uses them. You basically need 2 copies of each building texture...
Outrunning a missile by descending into the atmosphere would be interesting, since you technically need to slow down to descend, so presumably by going into the atmosphere you would be reducing the distance between you and the missile chasing you...? I may be a bit off here, but the concept of...
Hi gents.
Apologies for the delay with the next test, life is life etc etc.
We're not quite ready for the next beta, but I've just tested the latest build of the LFMC launch wizard... and boy is it awesome! face is such a dude. I just had to share some info with you ahead of time, at risk of...
Thanks for that info, very helpful. yes your estimates are about right. I did wonder if it was actually a bit heavyweight for what was required, so I may slim it down a touch.
Yeah I did think about that. My thought was that it could be a fairly simple inflatable tube. The logic being that...
Ah yes that's true, cheers. But my design really calls for multiple attachment and docking points per truss, to accommodate all the modular options, so 1 falls somewhat short of that requirement.
