Request New Shepard vehicle and tower

The New Glenn is a very different vehicle to New Shepard (two stage, goes to orbit, 1st stage boostback burn to landing target etc.) so I don't know how you would adapt the New Shepard code 🤷‍♂️ Well done on getting the capsule jettison sorted out (y) Cheers, Brian

Check if you have "Attachment Manager" enabled in your modules tab - disable it if so.

Request New Shepard vehicle and tower

The booster has capsule mass as 5000kg hard-coded. You could put the Space Shuttle on top and it would launch that just as well!

Request New Shepard vehicle and tower

Thanks for the vote of confidence - but I'm not sure its warranted 🙃 Anyway, I had a quick look, lots of stuff I don't really understand. I usually find that its good start off vessel creation with getting the basic parameters (mass, size, PMI, fuel mass, etc.) in the right ball park - and...

Request New Shepard vehicle and tower

Hi, I'll also take a look at the nscapsule code and see if I can ched any light on what's going on. The capsule jettison speed from the booster is 5 m/s, shouldn't be a problem. I'll do some experiments and report back. Cheers, BrianJ

Cross-posting! Sorry, didn't mean to barge in ahead. Orbiter 2016 : Parameters -> Atmospheric Wind Effects Orbiter 2024 : Options -> Physics settings -> Atmopheric Wind Effects I don't know why the landing targeting isn't working for you - if the autopilot can't find a valid target it should...

Test pack .zip attached below. I think it should have everything needed to test. Open the scenario and press P for autopilot. Cheers, Brian

With Orbiter's "wind effects" enabled I land within ~20m accuracy, without wind its within ~1m. Maybe someone else can give it a try. I have to have some dinner now! Cheers, Brian

That looks like the place it comes down if you don't have any landing target entered 🤷‍♂️

The autopilot will target the origin (0,0,0) of any base or landed vessel. It doesn't know about off-centre landing pads. My BOLAUNCHPAD.CFG (I don't think it was included in your test .zip) : ; === Configuration file for vessel class Adapter === ClassName = BOLAUNCHPAD Module = BOlaunchpad...

Request New Shepard vehicle and tower

Hi, attached below is .zip with a new .dll for the booster, .cpp code, exhaust texture (originally by @Marg I think?), some notes in the Doc, and a test scenario. I had a lot of fun testing and enjoying the view out of the capsule window :) Hopefully the autopilot will guide the booster from...

Request New Shepard vehicle and tower

I was hoping someone might have a go at the guidance for your New Glenn, so I could see how to do it properly. Falcon9 code has too many Falcon-specific "fudge factors" to be easily transferred. I've done the best the best I can with the Starship - at least my Orbiter version doesn't melt ;)...

Request New Shepard vehicle and tower

Hi, as mentioned above by @gattispilot, I'm having fun making a bit of an autopilot for launch and landing the New Sheppard. Its going quite well, I hope to have something test-worthy soon. I was checking some basic parameters like mass, engine rating, etc. and I had this little conversation...

    Vessel Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer

Hi, I'm on my way to Jupiter with JUICE. Big thanks to @gattispilot , @MarkWatney2015 and @jacquesmomo (y) The Moon-Earth flyby scenario is awesome - I suspect I won't be able to get it right, but maybe I can get to Jupiter anyway. Cheers, Brian

Hi, if you want to post or p.m. me the code, I'd be happy to see if I can shed any light on it. Cheers, Brian

@Gargantua2024 may be able to shed some light on that if he can get the data from Horizons. Cheers, Brian

    Vessel Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer

JUICE has a very "interesting" trajectory (by "interesting" I mean really difficult in Orbiter!) Not just Earth flybys, but a Moon-Earth flyby.... Are they sure about this?: I seem to remember Nozomi doing something like this, going to Mars. Cheers, Brian

    Ariane 6 european rocket

 No! Do not worry! I am still using Orbiter2016 for MS2015 launches. I am going to try the JUICE mission launch (thanks to @gattispilot ). Cheers, Brian

    Project NASA Viking

During the course of getting the lander to land properly, we discovered there was quite a discrepancy between the historical landing site altitudes (both below Mars "sea level" ) using the default Orbiter2016 Mars elevation or using the Mars Hi-Res elevation available from...
