Finding the Volume of Consumables Needed

There's a calculator I made up a while ago, that not only calculates how much fuel you will need for a given deltaV (or vice-versa), it also tells you how pick your tanks need to be (based on three different shapes). It's called the "Rocket Equation Calculator," and you can find it at...

    Updates Ares Updates and Discussion

Sadly I agree. Or at least ARES-I should be cancelled. The simple fact is, it isn't safe, and there are MUCH safer and proven methods for launching Orion. America wants to get to the moon by 2020, and so do I, but they aren't going to do it with faulty and unsafe designs.

    Question Chance of this happening

That's the first thing that came to my mind too. As for runway incursions, they do happen a lot more then people realize, even with trained pilots. It wasn't a runway incursion, but I had a bit a close call today actually. I was flying at 2000ft over a section of Ottawa called Bell's Corners...

Humor US tax dollars hard at work

Wow, at first I thought this was an internet joke, but holy cow, it isn't: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/postquery?bill_number=hr_36&sess=0506&house=B&author=richman I guess any state that's run by the "governator" will have stuff like this, lol. However, it could be worse, Illinois and...

    "Graduated" burns?

Being Apollo 13, I think it had to do simply with Lovell getting the "feel" of using the Lunar Lander's engine while still attached to the Command Module, which it was never designed to do.

    Project Trajectory "Pork-Chop Plot" Generator

Alright, they were able to recover all of my data from my laptop, but the hard-drive on it has seen it's last command prompt. So for the time being, until I can get back to it full time (right now I'm concentrating on my Titan Orbiter), here is the new current version...

    Project Trajectory "Pork-Chop Plot" Generator

Ok, I just got back from dropping off my laptop, and I have good news. They say they can recover ALL the data on it, so I don't have to rewrite a ton of code, including some really good stuff: -Gives all the data needed to punch into transX -Display things other then just deltaV, including...

Software Reoccurence of the "Blue Screen of Death"

What site are you downloading Orbiter from? Could this be a corrupt download? Did you install any add-ons? If so, which ones?

    Project Trajectory "Pork-Chop Plot" Generator

Hey everybody. While I've been away from Orbiter, I've had a lot of people email/pm me about this project, and if I am continuing it. Yes I am. A while ago, I had yet another crash of my laptop, and lost the current version of the program I was working on. Luckily, I learned from the last...

News How many yachts does a man need?

I'm anything but religious, but I got to say it: "Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone" Ok, I know, he's probably has done a lot worth things then either you or me, but in terms of money, so what if he spends it around? Heck, I own a $5,000 telescope. How many charities could have...

    Chapman Challenge

Sorry for not posting this earlier, real-life rather came at me like a out of control freight-train, so I haven't been able to do much things Orbiter in the last few weeks. As such, the next Chapman Challenge is going to be a bit delayed until the end of March.

    Chapman Challenge

Yes I did. BrianJ posted a thread a while ago (I think it was the first to talk about IEATMFD) that explains a bit of the use of it and IMFD, however it does assume you are at least somewhat familiar with it. Before I release the next challenge, I'll write up a tutorial on using it. I'll try...

    Project Trajectory "Pork-Chop Plot" Generator

Yes, I do plan to create an option for creating a scenario file with a transX flight plan (and maybe IMFD). As for how it is down, editing a scenario file should actually be pretty easy. If there is MFD data already present, it shouldn't be a problem letting the user choose which to overwrite...

    Project Trajectory "Pork-Chop Plot" Generator

Here's a little updated preview. I've added in the ability for the program to find "peak-points" which will find the most optimal trajectories so you don't have to click around on the screen to find them (although you still can). I've also put in the option for how you want to graph it (either...
