News ORBITER ADDON COMPETITION DEVELOPMENT THREAD

I'm pretty sure you'll need to write your own DLL (module) but fortunately the Shuttle-A code is included in the Orbiter SDK.

    Need help with spacecraft 3

Thanks, got to go check this out again. Maybe Mohd solved my issue from last spring! MT

What music are you listening to?

It's definitely possible to be a classical nut and not be a snob...a geek, maybe. I don't look down on folks who don't like classical...I consider them "normal." ;) BTW I am a BEER drinker.

    Salyut6

Hello No Matter, Did you ever finish your Salyut 6? I have been developing one of my own, for similar reasons (delays to other Salyut 6 add-ons) but did not know that you were working on one until I saw this thread. Cheers- MT

What music are you listening to?

Wow, not so many classical buffs here! When I was in High School in the 80's I realized there was A TON of good classical music already written that needed exploring. And symphonies, operas and the like are very long and complicated, which suited me just fine. They take me years to fully...

    Orbiter Meeting (2009-2010)?

Yes, this is a real toughie. Maybe we can find the geographic center of all known Orbinauts. Then meet there. Umm...so many of us...so how about that point in the mid-Atlantic, at 0N, 0E (or W)? :P My former company did this once...we had managers from USA and Sweden "meet in the middle"...

    Need help with spacecraft 3

Whoa, UMMUFA now works with Spacecraft3? It didn't work with it very well last spring...has this changed? Apologies if I missed the threads. Been busy. MT

    Question Are you happy?

Thanks for starting this thread, Ford. Like you, I'd love to meet the folks here, but...well, this is an international forum, and we're not all Bill Gate$ types, so many of us must simply stay put and dream. Or possibly visit a few Orbiter friends some day. And this being a forum, there's...

    Any Motorcyclists?

Just don't try that kind of stunt in Orbiter, young man! ;)

    Delete

Hm, I was already working on two completely unrelated add-ons, so I suppose I'll throw in with this lot... ENTER SPACESHIP (space station actually) ENTER ROCKET (not the launch vehicle to or for this station, but hey...)

How do Solid Fuel Upperstages work?

Jackpot! Thanks movieman! :speakcool: I've been assembling a new Minuteman II / III add-on. The problem of controlling the final trajectory has been bothering me...you've got solid rockets in all three stages, but you must be able to cut off the third stage precisely. There is a Google...

Physicists spooked by faster-than-light information transfer

The photons must have been the bearers of Bad News, which may well travel FTL. :P

Anyone do Physics at University/College/Whatever your country calls it?

I had a friend in the same situation. He wasn't up to Physics with Calculus, but at my school we had a class called "Physics for Poets" which taught the ideas without forcing the students to do the math. I suppose it must have been more of a history of science class.

    Which Orbiter rank are you?

Is there a rank for folks like me who occasionally write add-ons (launch vehicles, mainly) but are no good at interplanetary travel? :P

    Best way to reach orbit?

Yes, it's definitely slick when you can achieve a circular orbit in one go, from launch to engine cutoff. Your method is a good way to get into orbit in the first place. So next time you can establish a good circular orbit, write down your velocity and altitude. That horizontal velocity will...

    Spaceflight jokes

I remembered two: (for pessimists) There is no such thing as gravity--the Earth sucks. (Apologies to Siberian Tiger) AEROFLOT = Aircraft: Early Russian. Other Flights Lost Over Tundra

    A *model* rocketeer

I was looking up ideas for a flying scale model Gemini-Titan, and stumbled across this page online. O*M*G : http://www.cjsaviation.com/shr ... (Either she's got remarkable talent AND good looks, or she's the gf or wife of a lucky scale rocket expert, and well, sex sells...) Lest this thread...

Direct (Jupiter) v. Ares...the debate continues

Buzz Aldrin Speaks Up Hi all, Quoting from my morning AIAA newsletter: "Buzz Aldrin is leading an effort to re-examine" the Constellation program -- "in particular, NASA's choice of rockets for the mission." Aldrin wants to create a panel to examine if Constellation is the "right way to go"...
