China to launch Shenzhou-7 between Sept. 25-30

Ummu is definitely on the list for the first DLL version of Shenzhou (currently, we're using spacecraft3). We may have to make do with a substitute mesh for the suit, possibly the Orlan mesh, if it's available. MT

    Flight 4 of Falcon 1

Thank you...that's about all I could think of. That, and avoiding any collision with a Chinese guy doing an EVA. MT

    John Youngs birthday

Yes...similar story in Apollo 16. During launch, the other guys' heart rates went way up, but John's stayed at only ~70 bpm. When this was later revealed to the crew of Apollo 16, his comment was something self-effacing, like "I'm so old my heart doesn't go any faster." Cool as they come...

China to launch Shenzhou-7 between Sept. 25-30

cjp, if you can get me the detailed versions of those pictures, especially of the CZ-2F upper stage engine area, (not easy to find detail photos of that area) you will have won the package of Seattle coffee I promised to anyone here who can get me detailed photos. (My original post...

    Flight 4 of Falcon 1

Elon speaks of "launch windows." I'd love to understand what determines the launch window for a simple orbital launch that requires no rendezvous. Thanks for the great pix, thomasantony!

    Ares I passes design review

Thank you for interpreting that for me!

OHM Soyuz TMA, Progress M & Atlantis docked at the ISS

Seconded! Scenarios are great, but they ought to be easy to find, and distinguished from new vessels and such.

    Disappearing mesh parts

Could it be as simple as setting the vessel size (in meters) correctly?

    Ares I passes design review

This raises an interesting side-issue for me, that of the name of this launch vehicle. I've met people all over the USA who call it "Aries" (the Ram) and not "Ares" (the god of war). So how is one supposed to pronounce "Ares?" Is it: - Air - ease? - Air - ace? - Arr - ease? - Arr - ace? -...

Of course, and also the fine state of Alabama, where Huntsville and MSC are located...and the list goes on...

    What is your Favorite Addon?

I have to say spacecraft3. This, and multistage2, have carried me a long way and brought TONS of fun as junior developer. So take my vote in context of one who gets most of his fun in developing addons. (I love AMSO, orbiter sound, Ummu, Orion/Ares, and many others that are far more advanced...

No parachute, but he's got a knife!

Interesting. Get rid of pointy knives, sticks and spears and the like, and what's left? Brass knuckles?

Things you noticed in Armageddon without a website

This one's bugged me a long time. I've had to explain countless times to flatlanders that in orbit, one does not need their main engines on the whole time...this sort of thing in a movie does nothing to help the general public understand, actually makes it worse....ARRGH!

    OHM Moon3D

Brilliant idea Brian! I'm sure it will make Apollo and Orion missions much more realistic. Thanks!

    Orion Drop test

FAIL (But I'm sure they'll succeed...soon enough) Edit: Thinking about what I saw, I was saddened to be reminded of Komarov.

    Motivational Posters

These are fabulous, Missioncmdr... Is the "sausage-and-chocolate-chip-pancakes-on-a-stick" one a real product? Gawd! Edit: I found this one on my PC. Perhaps I downloaded it from an Orbiter forum thread? :P

China to launch Shenzhou-7 between Sept. 25-30

I really hope they don't try to land on Saturn. Don't they read their Arthur C. Clarke? He says they'll try to land on Europa. But then get eaten by the Europan space squid. Meanwhile, streb2001 tells me he's working on Shenzhou 7 add-on. For now, to keep on truckin' with the Taikonauts...

    Satellite Simulation

I'll put in a plug for my Sea Launch, with Istotchnikov's DirecTV-11 Satellite. It's going into Geosynchronous orbit, so a bit more challenging than simply achieving LEO: Sea Launch 2008

    Salyut6

I just saw your new Progress add-on (it looks like you are anticipating a Salyut 6 soon!). Beautiful! Download location is here: http://orbiter.mustard-fr.com/addons/addons.html

Unspeakable things you see in multinationals...

Hi ar41, Interesting post...sorry you seem disillusioned. I remember seeing you posting a little while back about getting in trouble because you posted to the Orbiter forum from work. I hope you didn't post from work this time! ;) MT
