OS WARS MEGA THREAD (Now debating proprietary vs. open-source!)

Depends on the distro, I suppose. I have never seen a single terminal command you couldn't execute graphically in Ubuntu. Now, in OpenSuse, I found doing updates much more reliable from the command line, but that may change in future releases;) Well, it isn't hard to copy and paste commands...

One doesn't have much need of a joystick in Orbiter anyway--except after reentry.

OS WARS MEGA THREAD (Now debating proprietary vs. open-source!)

Naagh...maybe just a quick guerilla action:P I was a Windows man for a long, long time...but I've been using various distros of Linux for about six or seven years (I installed Fedora 9 at the tail end of 2009 IIRC). I actually find it much easier than Windows. The "hard" stuff (like the...

Might I recommend just switching to Linux? Ubuntu and Linux Mint both have a very wide range of hardware support, and don't cost a penny.

    Fun With Naval Terminology

I played Strike Fleet on a Commodore 64 when I was in middle school, and the Kynda and the Slava were two of the worst things you could run into.

The inactive ground units are surely a bug, but coordination was something I don't think they intended--you aren't supposed to go having multiple races on your side, but I love to do it;)

Like a WWII-based version of Harpoon--sounds really interesting! Between that and the armor, one could almost argue the Iowa as a battlecruiser (though you won't see me try:lol:) That was a fascinating article. I'm going to post the ship taxonomy section of my SG tutorial tonight, and...

Oh, not at all!:) I LOVED Command and Conquer: Red Alert, Dune 2000, and even the computer version of Battleship in spite of its wonkyness. And you can't be a flight-sim lover like me without some appreciation of thick-of-it action;) But I have a fondness for TBS games as well, whether they are...
