Question your opinion on elevators/lifts

When im too lazy i'll use one, but I dont like them that much. I dont want to get stuck in one, as its the worse place to be stuck in.

Fond of Otis products, myself. They used to have a production facility in my hometown, but they're just using it for office space now.

hate them, hate them, hate them. I have many times walked stairs to avoid a lift. I hate them with a passion.

I like those cool elevators that you almost get zero g in, but I'm not an elevator surfer. Elevator surfing is a good way to get a Darwin Award.

Boring and safe.

I am very afraid of heights, so much so I can't stand on top of a ladder without wanting to cry. So in cases where the stairs are grated metal, or otherwise make me aware of how high I am, then I want to take an elevator.

They enable obesity. People would figure out they're doing something wrong with their bodies much sooner if they couldn't get out of walking up stairs.

Last time I went to the CN Tower was during a busy time of the day, and the elevator was loaded.
I ended up standing directly on top of the glass floor panel. I wan't very happy.

Elevator Rage

Elevator Rage scored this guy a Darwin Award in South Korea!

The "Benny Hill" version (everything is funnier when set to "Yakety Sax" and sped up!):

In small buildings they are very convenient when you have to carry things (like your week grocery and a pack of water, furniture...). In skyscrapers, they are necessary.

I'm not understanding all the hate they seem to be getting.
I could do without escalators, I'm not too lazy to walk a flight or two of stairs, and I usually end up walking on them anyway.

And elevators are extremely helpful for getting around building with a lot of floors (eg. hotels) or building where you're going to be carrying a lot.

Not to mention they help with wheelchair access, so they're good for the handicapped.

Quote of the century, that one!

I used to be utterly terrified of the things as a kid. I remember getting lost in a tower block once when my mum went into a lift but I didn't/refused, resulting in a frantic search for each other for about half an hour.

And yes, Yakety Sax would have made it better.
